Rod and Bar

 

The ARIS system can be implemented in rod and bar production as a flaw detection and process control tool.  ARIS is well suited for use on steel, a complete spectrum of non-ferrous metals, and a limited range of non-metallic materials.  Systems and transducers are designed for installation in line and for operation at production speeds.

Analytical capabilities for rod and bar include:

Surface and subsurface defects: 

 sensitivity to better than .002 in. surface depth
sensitivity to better than  5.2 x 10-10  in3. subsurface defect volume 
Porosity and inclusions: sensitivity to better than  5.2 x 10-10  in3. subsurface defect volume
Hardness / annealing:    sensitivity to 1.2 Rockwell
Alloy identification
Dimensional verification: sensitivity to better than .0005 in.
