Alternative Applications

Sensors

Resonic’s resonance mode technology is ideally suited for use as an inexpensive, highly accurate and stable sensor with a variety of electronics options. Applications include non-contact force sensing with resolutions in excess of ten times that of a strain gauge, thickness/corrosion monitoring and materials properties analysis.

Structural Vibration, Dynamic Stress Monitoring, and Material Properties

Resonance mode EMATs under control of the ARIS electronics system can be used to simultaneously generate and detect acoustic waves in structures undergoing dynamic loads. The physics of acoustoelasticity, the linear relationship between the frequency of sound and applied load, can be measured with stability and resolution exceeding older techniques by an order of magnitude. The transducers can be permanently mounted and checked periodically to observe changes in a structure's behavior as it undergoes changes caused by structural loading. The system can also be used to measure the rate and magnitude of dynamic stresses.
